Webster referred to George as his given name, 'George'. He referred to Katherine as 'Ma'am'. This disturbed Katherine enough to ask Webster about it, wondering why he referred to her so formally. Webster explained that 'Ma'am' was as close as he could come to calling somebody besides his mother 'Mom'.
